How fast are scam alerts?

Our pipeline analyses call audio while the call is in progress, and alerts are typically delivered within about 15 seconds of detection — the time needed to transcribe the conversation and run the AI analysis. It is not instantaneous, and brief gaps in network connectivity, telecommunications routing, or third-party AI services may extend that delay further. Is there a contract or lock-in period?

No. Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime. Annual plans are paid upfront and are non-refundable after 30 days.

What countries does FamilySentry work in?

FamilySentry is currently available in Australia only. It is specifically built for Australian phone networks, scam patterns and privacy laws.

Question 6

Does FamilySentry work on iPhone?

Accepted Answer

The mobile app is currently Android only. iOS support is on our roadmap but is not yet available. If your protected person uses an iPhone, the service will not function as described and we recommend waiting for iOS support before subscribing. Alert recipients on iPhone will still receive scam alerts by email and by SMS (every plan includes SMS alerts, up to the per-plan monthly cap) but will not have access to the in-app alert experience until iOS support ships. Can I add more than one elder?

Yes — the Household plan covers up to 2 elders and the Family plan covers up to 4 elders, both from a single subscription with a shared minutes pool. The Single plan covers one elder.

What if I run out of minutes mid-month?

Accepted Answer

Two things happen. First, alert recipients receive an email alert at 80%, 90%, and 100% of your monthly minute limit. Second, once you reach the limit, unknown calls are capped at 2 minutes each before the call ends — calls from your saved phone contacts are never affected. If you regularly run close to your limit, you can buy one-time top-up minute packs (60 minutes for $7.99 or 180 minutes for $16.99). Top-up minutes draw from the same protected-minute pool and expire at the end of the current billing month. Top-up packs are available once online payments go live.

Is there a cap on how many SMS alerts I receive?

Yes — SMS alerts are capped per plan to keep telephony costs predictable: 25 SMS/month on Single, 40 on Household, and 75 on Family. The cap is a cost guard, not a hard cut-off — once the SMS cap is reached for a month, scam alerts continue to arrive via push notification and email at no extra cost. SMS alerts reset on the first day of each calendar month.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of your paid period. After that, your account is closed and your call records and transcripts are deleted within 30 days. Alert recipient records are deleted immediately on cancellation. You can also request immediate deletion at any time by emailing admin@familysentry.com.au — see our Privacy Policy for full detail.

Does FamilySentry record my calls?

Accepted Answer

No. FamilySentry does not store audio recordings of any call. Audio is transcribed in real time for the AI scam analysis and the audio stream is then discarded. Transcripts of low- and medium-risk calls are not stored at all — only metadata (timestamp, duration, caller number, risk level, scam category) is kept. Transcripts of high- and critical-risk calls are stored in redacted form, encrypted at rest, and are accessible only to the protected person and to FamilySentry support staff (never to alert recipients). All transcripts pass through an automated redaction layer before storage that strips sensitive information such as TFN, Medicare and other identifiers, financial details, dates of birth, and disclosed health, religion, ethnic-origin and similar sensitive details.

How long is my call data kept?

Call records (metadata, and where applicable the redacted/encrypted transcript) are auto-deleted once they pass your plan's call-history window: Single — 14 days, Household and Family — 30 days. You can delete individual records from your dashboard at any time. Audio recordings are never stored regardless of plan.

What do my alert recipients see in their app?

Alert recipients see only high- and critical-risk calls, and only the risk level, timestamp, and a generic scam-category one-liner (for example "This appears to be a typical government impersonation scam."). They do not see the caller's phone number, the call transcript, or any specifics of the conversation. This is intentional — it prevents anyone you add as an alert recipient from building a profile of the protected person's incoming-call patterns.

Is FamilySentry compliant with Australian privacy law?

Yes. FamilySentry is operated by an Australian business (ACN 698 176 037, ABN 77 698 176 037) and is built to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988, the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979, and the SA Surveillance Devices Act 2016. Every screened call begins with a recorded consent message; no audio is recorded; transcripts pass through an automated redaction layer that strips sensitive information before they are stored or sent for analysis.
