FamilySentry was founded in South Australia with one goal: making sure elderly Australians aren't the easiest targets for organised scam operations.
Why we built this
Australians lost $2.7 billion to scams in 2023 alone. The hardest hit are people aged 65 and over — targeted relentlessly by sophisticated operations that impersonate banks, Medicare, the ATO, and telcos.
The existing tools were built for the US market and didn't account for the specific scam types, carriers, and regulations that apply in Australia. Adult children couldn't find anything they could trust to keep their parents safe.
We built FamilySentry to fill that gap — a purpose-built Australian solution that handles screening in the background, lets your parent answer the phone the way they always have, and gives families real-time visibility when something goes wrong.

Hi, I'm Travis McDermott — Adelaide dad, software developer, and founder of FamilySentry.
I built FamilySentry because phone scams targeting elderly Australians are at record levels, and the tools available to protect them simply weren't good enough.
As a dad of two young girls, I understand what it means to protect the people you love. FamilySentry exists so that Australian families can have peace of mind — knowing that Mum or Dad is protected from scammers, even when you can't be there yourself.

Recordings are deleted unless explicitly retained. We will never sell, share, or monetise your family's call data. Ever.

We don't claim to catch every scam. We claim to catch significantly more than nothing, faster than any human could — and that's enough to make a real difference.
